Why this high torque kit is absolutely necessary:
The pulley of the crankshaft is screwed to the crankshaft sprocket. The power transmission from the crankshaft to this pulley/gear-duo is guaranteed only through a single guide slot. And exactly this point is one of the most vulnerabilities for G40 engines.
In the most cases a breaking from this guide slot will result is a major engine damage, because then crank & camshaft will not still walk together synchronously. Especially with tuned engines with high torque these defects can occur very fast.
With this high torque kit for all G40 engines, the crankshaft gear is enhanced by a additional guide pin made of high strength stainless steel.

- Crankshaft gear with a pilot hole for the guide pin
- Special drill
- Guide pin made of high strength stainless steel

This High Torque Kit is only available for VW Polo G40 until build 10/1990 (PY 002 177).
We recommend pinning for all motors with increased horse power. Especially when reinforced valve springs are installed, because it is due to the higher forces in the valve train to a higher stress on the belt drive.
The High Torque Kit can be mounted without removing the engine.
